At the invitation of I Have a Dream, acclaimed actor Samuel L. Jackson spoke to the student body at Wilson Middle School in Pasadena on January 9, 2006. "I came from a place similar to the one that you come from, " Jackson told them. "It's possible to be whatever you want to be; you are the masters of your own fate." The visit was highlighted during Jackson's guest appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show the following week.
