“I Have a Dream” Foundation – Los Angeles (IHADLA) strives to break the cycle of poverty by partnering with an entire third grade level of at-risk, inner-city students from underserved communities. Established in 1987, IHADLA is the only long term program within the greater Los Angeles area that serves the whole child through a variety of year-round academic, socio-emotional, and cultural services, at no cost to the student or their family.
School has just started, and IHADLA is running a School Supplies and Transportation Drive for our 70 Dreamers entering 6th grade in Watts and our 120 Dreamers entering 9th and 10th grade in Inglewood! In addition to these three programs, IHADLA has recently sponsored our 19th Program, an entire grade level of 65 third graders from Sunrise Elementary in Boyle Heights!
Many of our Dreamers come from impoverished circumstances with very little money to spare, and we really want to make sure that they have all of the supplies they need to succeed this school year! In addition, most of our Dreamers commute to school via public transportation, and so along with school supplies, we also hope to be able to purchase bus passes for them, to ensure they can get to school to achieve their dreams!
Special bus transportation for field trips throughout the year including science, museum, college and Dreamer community service days are essential to providing cultural enrichment to our students as well as supporting them in giving back to their communities.
Help our Dreamers by donating any amount you wish to help fund our School Supplies and Transportation Drive! Pens, pencils, calculators, notebooks, binders, bus passes, field trip funds–you name it, they need it. Every donation will help us reach our goal of ensuring all Dreamers are fully equipped for this academic year. Although we always appreciate your in-kind donations, this particular campaign is for cash donations.
IHADLA and the Dreamers thank you for your generous support. Your charitable giving for this leading nonprofit in Los Angeles can make a huge difference in the lives of these low income youths living in generational poverty.
