Dreamer Scholars garden with LA Urban Farms!

Board Member Vanessa Frank introduced us to LA Urban Farms, and thanks to this introduction, they recently came out to Program 20, our newest program at Frank D. Parent Elementary School in Inglewood, to show the Dreamer Scholars how to care for their two vertical gardens.

LA Urban Farms was founded in Los Angeles by a group of individuals who are passionate about sustainability, the health of people and our planet, and local/ organic/ nutrient dense/ delicious foods. Their state-or-the-art vertical patented technology is an ideal solution for farming in urban settings. Their vertical gardens use 90% less land and 90% less water.

Each Scholar was able to plant their veggie and/or herb into the garden. The vertical garden is intended to spark an interest in the environment and  love for gardening. The students will maintain their garden by watering it weekly and providing nutrients on a biweekly basis. Properly maintaining their garden will harvest every 21 to 28 days.
