Geffen Playhouse Social

The Foundation invited a few board members and their friends out for a small social event at the Geffen Playhouse. Attendees watched the play “Stage Kiss” and socialized after the show by enjoying cocktails and small hors d’oeuvres, all the while learning about IHADLA’s impact on the students it serves, our Dreamers, as well as the organization’s overall mission and vision.

IHADLA Social Event

The Geffen Playhouse social was a wonderful way to have a few people come out to a local theater production, support IHADLA, and also potentially have individuals become more involved with the organization. We hosted the social on April 21st and had about 20 people in attendance. After the performance, Debra Fine (CEO), Jeff Maher (Board Member), and Amanda O’Brien (Junior Board Member) networked with attendees and helped explain “I Have a Dream”‘s overarching goal of having our Dreamers graduate from high school and attend a form of higher education while providing wrap-around support, programming, and services for 10+ years. Many were impressed by the IHADLA’s commitment to our Dreamers and their families. We even had one attendee commit to being a mentor for one of our Dreamers!

The event was successful, as IHADLA raised over $500 and had a handful of individuals want to become further involved with the Foundation and the Dreamers as volunteers, mentors, and donors.

About “Stage Kiss”

“Stage Kiss” was a fantastic play, and our attendees greatly enjoyed the evening. From the Geffen Playhouse website, the play is about: “When long-lost loves are cast as long-lost lovers, two squabbling actors are slow to learn their lines but quick to ignite an old flame. MacArthur “Genius” Sarah Ruhl leads us on-stage, back-stage and out the stage door as reality collides with fiction in this raucous and revealing play within a play.”
