IHADLA Partners with Heal the Bay for MLK Day of Service
This past Monday, Dreamers, staff, and volunteers with the I Have a Dream Foundation – LA honored Martin Luther King Jr. by celebrating MLK Day of Service. IHADLA partnered with Heal the Bay for a beach clean up at Dockweiler Beach, a Los Angeles beach that recently received an “F” on Heal the Bay’s annual beach report card.

Dreamers and volunteers scoured the beach looking for trash to pick up and documenting what they found. By the time they broke for lunch, they had picked up several bags’ worth of trash along the shore.
“I Have a Dream” – LA does one of these service days every year with our Dreamers. Like Martin Luther King Jr., we believe that “life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’”
We want our Dreamers to believe this too – to believe that “Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”
If you would like to support IHADLA student Dreamers to be able to do more, including giving back themselves, we hope you’ll consider getting involved. You can mentor, tutor, volunteer, or donate – or if you aren’t in Los Angeles, you can support by following them on their social media handles.
