Raquel Alvarado was born and raised in Pasadena, California, and currently resides in the San Gabriel Valley Area. She holds a degree in Psychology from California State University and obtained her Master of Arts in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College.
The “I Have a Dream” Foundation- Los Angeles (IHADLA) and its unwavering commitment to Dreamer Scholars is what drew her interest in the organization. She has had the privilege of witnessing the tangible results of their dedication, especially now as their alumni Dreamer Scholars are beginning their own families! For Raquel, it is an incredible honor to have been with the organization, particularly Program 19 since the beginning. She feels grateful for witnessing their development into adulthood and knowing she has played a significant role in it.
Beyond work, she finds immense joy in the company of animals, particularly her amazing pets at home. The presence of her pets brings her a sense of peace; whether she is reading, watching TV, playing with them, or taking leisurely walks in the neighborhood.
Another fun fact about her is that paddle boarding has become her newfound hobby. What she enjoys most is the sunshine and refreshing ocean air. She delights in traveling as another form of exploration and wishes she could do it more often. She is always looking forward to her next destination!
“I take great delight in witnessing the remarkable outcomes of our long-term dedication to our Dreamer Scholars.”
