Director of Development

Sara Villagran has over 20 years of experience in advancement services in an academic setting, having most recently been the Associate Director of Development for Corporate and Foundation Relations at the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. In this role, she was responsible for planning and executing strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit corporate and foundation prospects and contribute to the overall fundraising goals and objectives of the school.  Prior to that, she was the Senior Director of Alumni Relations at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, where her responsibilities included setting up and building engagement and fundraising initiatives. Earlier in her career, Sara worked in several other USC divisions with responsibilities in administration, development, communications and alumni relations.

In her role as Development Director at IHADLA, Sara will work closely with our team to help achieve our marketing and development goals through growing corporate sponsorships and donor engagement, being the point-person on fundraising events, including the Dreamer Dinner, and managing social media, email appeals, the IHADLA newsletter and our website.

Sara’s favorite part about working at IHADLA is having the opportunity to build relationships that could result in developing stronger programs as well as supporting our endeavor to provide experiences to children from under-resourced Los Angeles communities, that they may not otherwise have.
