Terence Carter is Co-President, Head of Television, Westbrook Studios. He has served as Co-President and Head of Television for Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios since November 2019. In this role, he oversees all television development and production on behalf of the studio, including the recently released drama series “Bel Air” which is Peacock’s #1 original series and has an unprecedented two season order, the breakout hit “Red Table Talk” and its spin-off “Red Table Talk: The Estefans” on Facebook, the recently-released “Welcome to Earth” on Disney+, “Amend: The Fight for America” on Netflix, and the upcoming “This Joka” on Roku as well as “African Queens” on Netflix.

Carter joined Westbrook after serving as EVP, Twentieth Century Fox Television and FOX Network, where he was responsible for developing and overseeing such shows as “Empire,” “9-1-1,” “9-1-1: Lone Star,” “Glee,” “Lucifer,” “The Resident,” “Lethal Weapon,” “Gotham,” “The Orville,” “Star,” “Bones,” “Pitch,” “X-Files,” “24: Legacy,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Marvel’s The Gifted,” and “The Following” as well as “Love Victor” on Disney+ and “Soundtrack” on Netflix.

Carter joined FOX in 2009 from NBC Entertainment/Universal Media Studios, where he served as Vice President, Drama Programming and developed such shows as “Parenthood” and “Southland.” Prior to joining the Drama team at NBC, he served as Director of Comedy Development for the network.

Prior to NBC, Carter worked in feature films, serving most recently as Head of Development for Tonic Films, specializing in genre fare. While there, he supervised the development of “Borderland” and “Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever.” He also served as a partner at TruEntertainment, and held positions at Artists Production Group and Artists Management Group.

In 2011, Carter received the honor of being profiled in Variety’s “New Leaders” edition. In 2009, he was named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Generation: Top 35 Executives Under 35.”

Carter serves on the Board of Directors for the “I Have A Dream” Foundation Los Angeles, an organization that honored him as a Champion of Education at their 2016 Annual Dreamer Dinner. He was also honored by the Ron Brown Scholar Program with an Emerging Leader Award at the 2017 American Journey Awards.

Carter grew up in Washington, DC and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in African-American Studies and a focus in Film and Media.
