Program 21 to Support Madison Elementary First- and Second-Grade Students with Long-Term Academic and Social-Emotional Resources
IHADLA proudly marked its return to Pasadena with the launch of Program 21, a 12+ year educational initiative designed to empower 65 first- and second-grade students from Madison Elementary School.
Through IHADLA’s proven Dreamer Scholar Program Model, Program 21 will provide comprehensive academic, social-emotional, and financial support from early childhood through college. This long-term investment ensures equitable access to education and opportunity for students from under-resourced communities, reaffirming IHADLA’s commitment to breaking cycles of poverty through education.
“Today is a celebration, not just of new beginnings, but of community and the power of dreams,” said Chaznae Walker, Executive Director of IHADLA. “Meeting our new Dreamer Scholars—students like Yanay, Malachi, Liliana, and Guadalupe—reminds me why our mission matters so deeply. Feeling seen, supported, and valued transcends words, and this program ensures these children will always know they are believed in.”
Community Leaders Join in Celebration
The Program 21 Dedication Ceremony, held on October 23, 2025, brought together community leaders, families, and partners across Pasadena, including some proud Madison Elementary alumni; Mayor Victor Gordo, Deputy to the Mayor Vannia De La Cuba; representatives from the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD); and members of the Pasadena Fire Department.
Mayor Gordo delivered heartfelt remarks celebrating IHADLA’s investment in Pasadena’s youth and the lasting impact of community partnership.
“This partnership reaffirms Pasadena’s commitment to lifting up every student,” said Mayor Gordo. “As a Madison alumnus, I know firsthand how transformative community support can be for young learners. IHADLA’s presence will make a lasting difference.”
The event featured student performances, family participation, and words of gratitude from IHADLA alumni and staff, underscoring the organization’s mission to nurture Dreamer Scholars from their earliest years through higher education.
