RAQUEL ALVARADO | Program Coordinator

Raquel Alvarado was born and raised in Pasadena, California, and now resides in the San Gabriel Valley. She holds a degree in Psychology from California State University and earned her Master of Arts in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College.

Through Raquel’s journey with the “I Have a Dream” Foundation – Los Angeles (IHADLA) she has had the privilege of witnessing the tangible results of the organization’s dedication to Dreamer Scholars. It is an incredible honor to have been with IHADLA, particularly Program 19 since the beginning. She feels grateful for witnessing their development into adulthood and knowing she has played a significant role in it. Thanks to her unwavering commitment and leadership, Program 19 celebrated a remarkable 95% high school graduation rate in 2025.

This fall, Raquel will bring her expertise and heart for service to our newest cohort, Program 21, supporting a new class of first graders in Pasadena. She is excited to return to her hometown to continue empowering Dreamer Scholars and their families through IHADLA’s long-term support model.

Raquel is passionate about building lasting relationships and witnessing the full arc of students’ journeys, from early elementary school through adulthood. One of the most rewarding aspects of her work has been seeing alumni Dreamer Scholars grow into confident, compassionate adults, and even begin families of their own.

Outside of work, Raquel enjoys spending time with her beloved pets, paddle boarding under the California sun, and traveling whenever she gets the chance.
